My Goals For 2018

New Year Resolutions are not for me, these ‘resolutions’ people set on January 1st usually never make it past the first week. Therefore I like to set myself goals to achieve by this time next year. This will be my second time doing this, which is crazy to think I have had my blog now for 15 months. Much has changed and developed in that space of time, and setting these goals along with reflecting on them a year later is a great way to organise your life and work towards improving each year. Read my reflection on 2017 here. Now onto setting myself some 2018 goals.

Pass my first year of university

I want to be able to pass my first year at university; improve on all things academic, gain my place in second year without needing to redo any units. I may only be 3 months into my time here, but I do believe that this could be achieved. Loving the subject, and all things I am learning. Here’s hoping I get this goal.

Work with more brands

I want to work with more brands this year, which means I need to approach more of them myself. Having started this already, reaching out isn’t all that scary after all. I can’t wait to expand my work and create new and exciting content through collaborations with some of my favourite brands in the year to come.

Visit Amsterdam

I had discussed with a friend about travelling more, and we got talking about going to Amsterdam during the Easter break for a few days. I am planning on booking it soon, and finalising the to-do list there. Even got some blog posts in mind already and I haven’t even booked anything, haha. That is definitely planning ahead.

Plan and organise my study abroad

As part of my degree, I have the chance to study in a foreign country for six months during my second year. This was one of the reasons I chose Portsmouth to study at. There is a place I have in mind as to where I want to go, but I don’t want to share that information (in case I jinx myself and it falls through.) Let’s just say I will need to get some snow boots if I get my place there.

Start my YouTube channel

Yes, I know I have been saying this for quite some time now. 2018 will be the year I actually start this, I want to vlog my travels and share my lifestyle with a wider community. To continue to grow my brand across another channel my blog will also continue to grow but I have always wanted to branch out into the world of YouTube – If I’m honest I’ve just been too scared to do it so far, now it’s on the list it has to be done eh!

Travel more

So I mentioned Amsterdam in a goal on its own, but if I’m honest to travel more should be one. I want to travel to Isle of Wight, Berlin and you already know about Amsterdam plus more. If I get myself a part-time job when I go back to England then any extra money I make shall go on some more trips. I have always aspired to travel loads and experience new places.

Expand on Photography

I want to get a new lens for my camera, learn to take a range of different styles of photos and do more shoot with bloggers etc. – grow my portfolio and meet more people in the industry, something I have wanted to do for a while now. I have grown to love photography, it is definitely one of my favourite hobbies and I think I am getting better at taking photos in my own personal opinion.

Learn how to play guitar

I want to get myself a guitar and teach myself how to play. I have been playing violin since I was 9 years old, gained 4 grades played in about 4 different orchestras throughout those 11 years. I think it’s time to branch out in my musical range – and add guitar to the skill set.

Increase my social media following

  • 6,000 Twitter followers
  • 8,000 Instagram followers
  • 5,000 email subscribers
  • 400 Facebook likes
  • 400 Bloglovin followers

These are just some statistics I would want to reach by the end of 2018, some may be a bit of a dream but we shall see how well I go.
