It’s Friday the 15th December today; that means it’s that day university classes end and when I am flying back home for the next 3 weeks. Woohoo; it’s been a whole 3 months away from my family, to the date. That may not seem like a lot for some people, but for me it’s a long time because we as a family are so close and this is the first time I’ve been living away in a different country. I am excited to see everyone again, and spend quality time with everyone I love.
I love how excited everyone back home is, calling my granddad asking him what his plans for the week were, and he accidently told me that my mam had organised for him to come down today to see me, which was supposed to be a surprise. Bless him! And my mam is so excited, she has a countdown on her phone, counting down the days until I get back for the holidays. My brother, he doesn’t say much on the phone but I know I’m looking forward to annoying him for the next 3 weeks. My step-dad, he went out and bought me an advent calendar for when I get back, he wouldn’t admit to missing me, but who wouldn’t miss me right?! haha.
Christmas is such a great time of year, especially in my family, everyone gets together and its so festive and cosy. I’m looking forward to having some home cooked meals from my mam, and the fact I don’t have to do my own dishes (there is a dishwasher back home) – although they tell you its a break, it’s not really university work never ends, I have an essay due on the first week back in January so I have to use my Christmas holidays writing that up. But that’s what I signed up for.
Now, it’s time to pack up my things, and get travelling to the airport as my flight leaves at 6pm woohoo, Ireland here I come!
